Wayward Guide Out Now!

Wayward Guide Out Now!

‘Wayward Guide for The Untrained Eye’ Out now!

November 8th, 2020

After several years, the wait is finally over! Wayward Guide for the Untrained Eye can now be found on The Tin Can Bros Youtube Channel. I really adored working on this production. I met so many amazing creative individuals who I have since had the opportunity to work with on this shoot. It was the first series I was the makeup head on, which was a new challenge for me, and we had so many zany characters that were were able to have fun with. Even ones where at first glance I went “okay so they are just a regular person”, the actors would come in full of ideas of what there character was, and it was a delight getting to work with them to create their look.

New episodes are coming out every week, with 4 episodes already being out at the time of this posting (yes I’m behind on updating things), plus there’s a companion podcast that you can listen to with it too! so definitely go and give it and watch! I legitimately am watching it every week as its such a fun and charming series, and its been long enough since filming, that I legitimately have forgotten things so it makes it a fun treat for me too!

Some new Work I did for singer Tori Kelly. Was delighted to not get to work on just one, but two music videos for her. It was beautiful getting to work on stories that were so personal to the artist and were reflections of direct memories. (I did the hair and makeup in both videos for the actors, Tori Kelly’s makeup and hair was handled by her personal team)

The first, ‘Change Your Mind’, was a hard look at her father and his absence in her life. We had the two men playing her father (one when she was a child, and one for modern day). for the younger dad focused on some subtle aging by emphasizing lines on his face, making him look weathered, and adding a tiny bit of gray to his hair line.

The second video, ‘Sorry Would Go A Long Way’, focused in on the relationship of her parents and its collapse. It contrasts the joy and ease of their wedding day to events at the end of their marriage. The video took place with Tori as a child, so we did some makeup and hair looks that would make sense for the 90’s, while giving the extremes of being polished and put together for the wedding vs the less then perfect feel for the separation. When we shot this I appreciated the song, however seeing the video and listening to the words really hit me on another level and I found myself crying as I watched it.

StarKid’s 10niversary Celebration! -KickStarter

So, I swear I do more then just kickstarter campaigns! But those are things that have quick turn arounds, and everyone is always strongly encouraged to share! So they are the easiest things to put on here and talk about. Usually the idea is to not only promote the work I did, but also to get you to support the project! Well, this campaign hit their goal before I got around to posting about it!

So happy and proud for the entire StarKid Team! I’ve been lucky enough to have worked with several of these people multiple times, and I’m so grateful to have gotten to do so again. While they have already made their goal of $155,000, (at the time of this post they were at $190,000) you can still go and donate to get in on all the amazing rewards and gifts, and support your favorite musical theater group!

Somehow in my life, I feel backwards into the world of digital series. And I am so grateful that it happened! I’ve been fortunate enough to have worked on several webseries and digital shorts. One of the great joys of it is the friends I have made, and that I now get to make cool and creative content with them.
One of those friends is Ashley Clements, who I met when working on the webseries ‘The Wayward Guide for the Untrained Eye’ being made by the Tin Can Brothers. When she told me Brendan Bradley, William J. Stribling, and her were working on an adaptation of Macbeth I was so excited to work with them all! We’ve done the initial phase of filming, but they need some help raising funds to complete the project now. And of course, that where you lovely people come into play.

I really hope you can donate, and help complete this story. It’s been such a joy helping to bring these characters to life in a tech based setting, and I’m looking forward to getting back to work with all these amazing creative people! As of Now, they are nearly 60% to their goal of $25,00. Which is amazing, but they need help to meet the full amount. So be sure to check it out, support if you, gets some cool stuff, and spread the word!

Funemployment – Released!

March 5th, 2019

If you have know me for awhile, then I’m sure at somepoint or another you have heard me mention the film Funemployment. I’ve even mentioned it on this blog a time or two. This is because being of that project was such a pivotal thing in my life. It was what started me on the path of full-time becoming a makeup artist in the film industry, and introduced me to friends and collaborators that I worked with for years to come, and to this very day. So, 5 years ago we did principle photography, then we did the kickstarter, then a while later we did some pickup scenes, and then in between then I know the director Christine Chen did countless sessions of ADR, edits, and reedits….but here it finally is! Available for your viewing pleasure.

You can find it on vimeo: http://vimeo.com/ondemand/funemployment
And also on Amazon.

Along with watching the full film finally, the gang has working on a podcast to accompany the film. You can hear from various members of the cast and crew discussing the crazy roller coaster that was the creating of the film! You can find it on all podcast players, and also you can find it in video form on their youtube here

Additionally, as I mentioned in a previous post, I’m actually one of the guest! and am in two episodes. Specifically if you want to hear me reminisce and talk about the shenanigans, and lack of experience I had, watch the two videos below!

Some days you get to work in nice comfy studios, close by, temperature controlled, ect. Then there’s the jobs the make you drive over an hour out to Lancaster at the crack of dawn, and have you working in freezing cold weather outside all day, in a junkyard. As less then ideal as those conditions can be, they do tend to produce some amazing videos. Here’s some new work for singer Max Frost new song “Money Problems”. (Make for background characters and dancers by me)
